Birch Run Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for the position of Full-Time Director of Events and Marketing.

The primary purpose of the Birch Run Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce is to encourage, promote, and foster business and industry within Birch Run and Bridgeport. Particularly to enhance the cause of commerce and advance the general well-being of the mercantile, industrial and commercial community. We are dedicated to fostering a thriving business community by providing resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy for businesses of all sizes.

POSITION: Director of Events and Marketing.
Status: Contractual Position
Reports to: Executive Board of Directors, Birch Run Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce

 

Position Length: 32 hours average per week, year-round with additional hours required to execute in-house Community events. Position requires meetings and activities outside of regular hours, must be flexible.

SUMMARY
Oversees the planning, developments and implementation of all marketing initiatives and
strategies for the Birch Run Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce. The Director of Events and
Marketing is responsible for membership recruitment, retention, marketing, communication and
events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, manage and execute the Chamber’s existing in-house community events, including:

  • Best Of Awards

  • Skip Day Golf Scramble

  • Trucks, Trunks, and Treats

  • Community Christmas

Event management duties, including:​

​

  • Administer event work plans and budgets and work within financial constraints

  • Maintain relationships and coordinate with event vendors, partners and sponsors

  • Identifies venue and secures contracts with committee and/or board approval

  • Handles event logistics - overview, registration, ticketing, staffing, technology and post event needs

  • Manages marketing strategies for events, including updating website, social media annewsletter content

  • Onsite management and engages guest/members at all events

  • Raise sponsorship funding for events

  • Support event committees and development of event volunteers

  • Solicit the participation of businesses in events and assist in the planning of theirinvolvement

  • Track event impact and analytics

 

Communication:

​

  • Engage and retain current Chamber members

  • Solicit new members, provide membership packet information

  • Host ribbon cutting ceremonies for new business members

  • Support community and member events

  • Provide updates at monthly board meetings and luncheons on membership and events

  • Ability to acknowledge and take direction from the board of directors

  • Maintains professional communication on all social media platforms

  • Sourcing content for social media and newsletter updates

  • Updating the website as needed

  • Strong commitment to the purpose and services of the Chamber

  • Professional and courteous image to the public, staff and board always

  • Ability to articulate and present in a group setting

  • Organization skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Project management skills - ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Solution Oriented

  • Takes initiative

  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Wix, Canva, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher.

  • Experience in engaging on social media.

  • Willingness to learn additional programs.

  • Position requires meetings and activities outside of regular hours
